Sorry to your current keyboard.

Your laptop keyboard has done its job. Years of typing. Years of crumbs. Years of pretending the mush-feel was fine because you didn't know better. But you've heard the thock. Now you can't unhear it. Here's where the head-turning is currently on sale.

The first board (Keychron K-series, $80-$120)

If you've never owned a mechanical keyboard, start here. Pre-built, hot-swappable, gateway-priced. The K2 + K6 + K8 are the most-recommended boards on r/MechanicalKeyboards for a reason. Discounts hit consistently around Prime Day + Black Friday at 25-35% off.

The upgrade (NuPhy, Glorious, Drop)

Once you know which switches you like, NuPhy Air + Halo series ($150-$220) and Glorious GMMK Pro ($170-$220) are the standard upgrade paths. Both are sale-friendly at the manufacturer's own Black Friday + Cyber Monday windows.

The endgame (Wooting, Mode, Norbauer)

If the upgrade isn't enough, you arrive at custom-built / boutique territory. Wooting analog-switch boards ($200-$350). Mode SixtyFive ($300+). The waiting lists are real. These rarely go on sale — they're built-to-order — but the build quality justifies the wait.

What you're really buying

The keyboard is a Trojan horse for the rest of the rabbit hole — keycaps, lubricants, switches, custom firmware. Budget 2x the cost of the board for the inevitable accessory haul. Or just don't read further. Your call.

The deals are real, even if the article was fun.
